First Trailer: Sandler & Safdies’ “Uncut Gems”

Every now and then, Adam Sandler leaves comedy behind to deliver a strong dramatic performance, such as he did with “Punch Drunk Love,” “Spanglish” and “The Meyerowitz Stories”.

He’s flexing those muscles again for “Uncut Gems,” the latest kinetic feature from “Good Time” directors The Safdie Brothers which just released its first trailer below. Scoring rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival, Sandler plays charismatic New York City jeweller Howard Ratner who is always on the lookout for the next big score.

When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.

Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Eric Bogosian, Julia Fox, Jonathan Aranbayev, Jacob Igielski, Noa Fisher, The Weeknd, and Kevin Garnett co-star in the feature opening December 13th in limited theatrical release ahead of a premiere Netflix release on Christmas Day.
