“Midsommar” and “The Maze Runner” actor Will Poulter has been cast in one of the lead roles in Amazon’s upcoming “Lord of the Rings” TV series.
The casting follows on from a report back in July that Australian actress Markella Kavenagh was in talks for a role in the series. Specifics of either character are under wraps.
JD Payne and Patrick McKay are developing the series with “Game of Thrones” producer Bryan Cogman signed on as a consulting producer and J.A. Bayona set to direct multiple episodes.
The series will be set during Middle Earth’s Second Age and at a time approximately three millennia before the events of “The Lord of the Rings”. The first season is said to consist of twenty episodes.
