Paul Walter Hauser (“BlackKkKlansman,” “Late Night”) is in talks to join Disney’s “Cruella,” the live-action “101 Dalmatians” prequel starring Emma Stone as a young Cruella de Vil long before she schemed to skin puppies for a fur coat.
Hauser is up for the role of Roger, the man who starts the family that owns the dogs. Hauser previously worked with “Cruella” helmer Craig Gillespie on “I, Tonya”, and Tony McNamara wrote the most recent draft of the script. Marc Platt and Andrew Gunn are producing.
The actor recently booked the lead and title role in Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell,” based on the story of a security guard who was considered a suspect in the bombing at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. “Cruella” is targeting a September start with Hauser to shoot both it and ‘Jewell’ back to back.
“Cruella” opens in cinemas December 23rd 2020.
