Animal Kingdom
TNT has renewed its Ellen Barkin-led “Animal Kingdom” series for a fifth season as the show continues to gain an audience. The series’ recent fourth season has reached nearly 18 million viewers across all platforms, and is one of this year’s top ten cable dramas in Live+7 viewers aged 18-49. The fourth season saw “Bones” actress Emily Deschanel join in a recurring role as Angela, a friend of the dead mother of J (Finn Cole) and a recovering junkie who tries to snake her way back into the family’s good graces. John Krasinski
Actor/producer John Krasinski has signed a three-year first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios and will work with his Sunday Night production banner, alongside his partner Allyson Seeger, to develop television series to premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Krasinski stars in their “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” series and is currently directing the “A Quiet Place” sequel for Paramount. [Source: Deadline]

Why Women Kill
CBS has released the first trailer for the CBS All Access series “Why Women Kill” which hails from “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry and tells the story of three women, in three different time periods (60s, 80s, now), all of whom lived in the same house and all of whom suffered some sort of infidelity from their significant other (adultery, closeted gay, open marriage). Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu, Jack Davenport, Reid Scott, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Sam Jaeger star in the series which premieres on CBS All Access on August 15th.

Second Sleep
Carnival Films (“Downton Abbey”) has scored the screen rights to Robert Harris’ thriller novel “The Second Sleep” with plans for a continuing series adaption. The story will follow a young priest, Christopher Fairfax, who arrives in a remote English village to conduct the funeral of his predecessor. The land around is strewn with coins, fragments of glass and human bones, which the old parson used to collect. The question for Fairfax is did he discover something kept secret for centuries? Bill Gallagher (“Jamestown”) will executive produce.. [Source: Variety]

The Righteous Gemstones
HBO has released another trailer for their comedy series “The Righteous Gemstones,” showing off the show’s central televangelist family’s crazy lifestyle as they face different enemies trying to destroy them. Danny McBride, John Goodman, and Adam Devine star in the series which is set to make its debut on August 18th. Walton Goggins, Edi Patterson, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz, and Greg Alan Williams also star.
