“Hellboy” Closes Theatrical Run With Just $22M

Lionsgate’s “Hellboy” reboot has been pulled from cinemas after just five weeks in theaters, the studio pulling the plug on the gritty reboot which has wrapped its run with just $21.9 million domestic gross.

The film had an opening weekend of $12.05 million, meaning it closed out with a box office multiplier of 1.81x which is pretty terrible. In comparison, the previous two films made $59.6 million and $75.9 million domestically.

Overseas didn’t save it either, the movie taking around $18.1 million thus far, bringing its global total to just a few dollars shy of $40 million. Made for a production budget of $50 million, the film is still going to lose money. A home media release date has yet to be announced.
