Period dramas along with sci-fi and fantasy series rely on meticulously planned sets and locations filled accurate world-building detail. Throw in something that feels out of place, it can ruin the illusion.
Some eagle-eyed viewers of last night’s episode of “Game of Thrones” noticed a Starbucks-esque coffee cup was visible in one of the shots at the beginning of the episode – sitting by actress Emilia Clarke.
Having already exploded into an internet meme, HBO has now released an official statement: “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
It’s expected said cup will be digitally removed from subsequent broadcasts of the episode.
Have to be honest, always saw #GameOfThrones to be more a @DeathWishCoffee kinda of place as opposed to bland old @Starbucks – but I guess what Daenerys wants in her latte & where she wants it from is what Dany gets, but really guys? https://t.co/3WUGNZS8PM pic.twitter.com/UyZV75GEuP
