“1923” Renewed For A Second Season

Paramount+

It was expected and now it’s official, Paramount+ has ordered a second season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” spin-off “1923” starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, legendary actors who were previously paired four decades ago in Peter Weir’s “The Mosquito Coast”.

As first indicated in October, Sheridan originally conceived the series as a one-and-done (like “1883”), but upon writing it found he had so much story to share that they opted to split it into two seasons of eight episodes each.

A second season green light would then likely have depended upon how the first season performed. It wasn’t an issue as the series launched to become the most-watched Paramount+ premiere ever in the U.S. – pulling in 7.4 million total viewers across the streamer and linear previews.

The show’s linear sampling preview on Paramount Network also made it the biggest series premiere on cable for 2022.

“1923” explores the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, and the end of Prohibition all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.

It stars Ford, Mirren, Brandon Sklenar, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Jerome Flynn and Julia Schlaepfer.

Four episodes of “1923” have aired thus far with the show returning this Sunday with a new episode after a several week hiatus.

Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson executive produce.
