“13 Ghosts” TV Series In The Works

Warner Bros. Pictures

A TV series based on the horror film “13 Ghosts” is reportedly being pitched to Sony Pictures Television, according to Dread Central.

Primordial Pictures’ Patrick Mediate, “Fear the Walking Dead” SFX Supervisor Aaron McLane, and Dark Castle Entertainment are all teaming up on the project, which has not received a green light as yet.

If it goes ahead, it would mark the first project for the property in two decades, and the first time it was serialized for television. The story follows a financially ravaged widower with two children wjp inherits his eccentric, ghost-hunter uncle’s giant glass house. They’\re unaware it was built as a prison for twelve vengeful spirits.

The project is being pitched as a thirteen-episode run with an ensemble cast and each exploring the origins of a different ghost. In addition, this reimagining will have an international flavor, with each of its ghost stories having its own stylistic look influenced by individual directors.

There is also reportedly a proposed AR component letting audiences see additional ghosts both on-screen and in their own homes as the series airs.

The property originated as a 1960 film by William Castle, most will be more familiar with the 2001 remake, which was panned and underwhelmed at the box-office and is mostly remembered for its glass house set design and differentiated ghosts.
