“13 Ghosts” Series Plans Multiple Seasons

Warner Bros. Pictures

Recently came the news that plans were underway for a TV series adaptation of “Thirteen Ghosts,” the 1960 film by William Castle and its notable 2001 remake by Dark Castle.

Primordial Pictures’ Patrick Mediate, “Fear the Walking Dead” SFX Supervisor Aaron McLane, and Dark Castle Entertainment are all teaming up on the project, which has not yet received a green light.

Sony Pictures Television retains some of the rights so it is required that they grant approval before production could begin. Sony reportedly received the pitch just before the strikes began, so further conversations haven’t taken place as yet.

Now, Bloody Disgusting reports that those involved have already been making plans to extend the show to multiple seasons with a whole bunch of world building underway. Mediate tells the outlet:

“We do envision an entire universe for the 13 Ghosts: The Series franchise that lives on eternally after the first season and goes on to explore different planes of mortal and Post-Mortal realities; it’s actually going to be something pretty profound that could be an enormous testament to the worlds we lay the groundwork for with the first season.

Long and short, this is absolutely going to be a series with stories and three-dimensional characters that fans are going to want to join up with for multiple seasons.”

Both of the original films follows a family as they move into a large and elaborate house only to discover it’s haunted by some unruly spirits who desperately want to be freed.

At last report the series is being pitched as a thirteen-episode run with an ensemble cast and each exploring the origins of a different ghost.
