“X-Men” Gets an Even Younger Jean Grey

Eight-year-old actress Summer Fontana (“The Originals”) has apparently scored the role of a very young Jean Grey in Simon Kinberg’s currently in production “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” at 20th Century Fox.

Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) is reprising her role of the young adult version of Grey which she first played in last year’s “X-Men: Apocalypse”. However, it sounds like the 1990s film will be sporting a flashback to Grey’s childhood and potentially a look at the moment Jean first showed her powers.

The casting first appeared on the film’s IMDb page, with the actress recently sharing a tweet from Montreal where filming is underway.

Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, and Alexandra Shipp all return for the film which opens November next year.
