The Syfy network and Don Mancini are teaming up for “Chucky,” a TV series version of the “Child’s Play” franchise.
A multiple-network bidding war was out for “Chucky” before Syfy nabbed the property and the potential series will be the first time it has been adapted for television. Mancini, who penned the original film franchise, will write the script.
Mancini says: “The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”
Mancini, who will executive produce, has penned all seven films in the series and is NOT involved in the upcoming film remake of the first which hits this Summer. Syfy has also handed out formal pilot orders to AI drama “Cipher” and the Lorne Michaels-produced dark comedy “(Future) Cult Classic”.
