The Star Wars Celebration convention is currently underway in Chicago with events at the convention being live-streamed and the big panel this morning for the ninth ‘episode’ film was hosted by talk show host Stephen Colbert.
The new J.J. Abrams-directed film serves as both the final film in the current trilogy, and last film in the franchise’s overall nine-film Skywalker saga with Disney already confirming the films will go on a bit of a hiatus after this.
To that effect, the panel saw Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy along with much of the cast, the new droid D-0, and the big announcement that many have been waiting for – the film’s official title.
That title? “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. In addition, some of the first stills from the film are available and can be seen below – including the first look at Billy Dee Williams as an older Lando.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” opens in cinemas December 20th.
