Following his directorial feature debut effort “Sleight” causing quite a bit of a stir at Sundance, filmmaker J.D. Dillard is in negotiations to direct and co-write a remake of the classic horror film “The Fly” for 20th Century Fox.
Kurt Neumann helmed the original 1958 version about a scientist who mutates into a grotesque human fly. More famous though is David Cronenberg’s 1986 remake, a body-horror classic starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.
Dillard will pen the script with writing partner Alex Theurer with plans for a potential franchise. Dillard is currently in pre-production on “Sweetheart” starring Kiersey Clemons.
“Sleight” hits cinemas on April 7th.
