Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols are joining Chris Rock on screen in the upcoming next film in the “Saw” franchise which is tipped to be a minor reboot.
Bloody Disgusting first broke the news with Lionsgate later confirming it. Rock will play a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes with Jackson as his father. Minghella will play Rock’s partner William Schenk while Nichols will play Rock’s boss Capt. Angie Garza.
Joe Drake, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, says in a statement: “We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the Saw canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of Saw on full tilt.”
Rock came up with the story treatment for the new film which recently began production. Jackson can currently be seen as Nick Fury in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and in the new “Shaft”.
Mark Burg and Oren Koules will produce while Darren Lynn Bousman returns as director. Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg penned the script and the film opens October 23rd 2020.
