“Run Lola Run” Gets A Chinese Remake

Road Pictures have announced that they’ve secured the rights to Tom Tykwer’s breakout 1998 German cult classic “Run Lola Run” and plan to make a Mandarin-language remake of the film.

ChinaFilmInside (via The Playlist) reports that actress Zhu Zhu (“Marco Polo,” “Cloud Atlas”) will star and produce the film which would obviously transplant the story to a different city and culture, along with being in a different time in terms of technology which would change how things unfold.

The original starred Franka Potente as a woman who received a frantic phone call from her boyfriend who as lost a small fortune to a mobster boss who will kill him in twenty minutes unless she replaces the money. We then witness three ‘runs’, each in real time and unfolding from the same starting point, in which she tries to obtain the money and save Manni – each offering a different outcome.
