Actress Margot Robbie has revealed that yet another film is in development involving her “Suicide Squad” character of Harley Quinn.
This one is one she’s been developing herself and is separate to the proposed “Joker and Harley” film, the “Gotham City Sirens” film and the “Suicide Squad” sequel. Speaking with MTV, she revealed the project and outlined what she’d like to see next with her character:
“It’s hard to talk about it because this stuff is under lock and key, but I’ve been working on a separate spin-off Harley thing for a while now. It’s a totally separate one. There’s a lot going on right now and honestly I don’t think anyone knows what’s going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone is keen to get Harley back on screen, so everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be.
I want to see her with other women. I kept saying when we were shooting Suicide Squad, ‘She needs her girlfriends. She needs other girls around her because she loves that.’ And you see it in the comics, she loves meeting people, any people, but she needs a little girl gang.”
At last report Gavin O’Connor is helming “Suicide Squad 2,” David Ayer is helming “Gotham City Sirens” and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are directing “Joker and Harley”. Which one will go first is anyone’s guess at this point, as is the future of the DC films initiative beyond the three already set projects – “Aquaman,” “Shazam” and “Wonder Woman 2”.
