However you feel about the show itself, one thing Marvel and Netflix’s “Luke Cage” did very well was its music. Another was some cute touches, such as the swear jar used by the Pop character in his barbershop and referenced several times throughout the series.
This week, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker revealed on Twitter that he attempted to use that important prop to attract the late legendary musician Prince to the show for an appearance in its final episode. Prince was a devout Jehovah’s witness and was known for keeping a swear jar of his own at his home in Minnesota.
Coker says “The Swear Jar was for Prince. I was going to show him the first two episodes and convince him to play in episode 13.”
Sadly, Prince passed away in his home in April, before Coker apparently talked about the possibility with him. Coker didn’t reveal what role he had in mind. “Luke Cage” is currently streaming in full on Netflix.
