Paul King, the director of the much acclaimed “Paddington” movies, is in final negotiations to direct “Willy Wonka” for Warner Bros. Pictures.
A reimagining of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Wonka is the infamous and eccentric owner of a chocolate factory who figured prominently in both that book and its sequel “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”.
Simon Rich wrote the new script and David Heyman will produce the project. Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp have previously portrayed the character in 1971 and 2005.
