Nicolas Cage has reportedly been offered the lead role of Ronald Reagan in a currently untitled project about the former U.S. President.
Page Six broke the news about the film which they also say will “show the conservative president in a flattering light, infuriating the liberal Hollywood crowd.” Cage’s publicist was contacted to confirm his involvement, but the rep said the project is “way too early in the development process”.
Two projects about Reagan have been in development in recent years, one based on Paul Kengor’s two best-selling biographies – “The Crusader” and “God and Ronald Reagan” with that project starting with his 1981 assassination attempt before jumping back and forth during parts of his stint in office.
The other project was announced back in April and had Will Ferrell slated to star in and produce. He dropped out after Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis contacted Ferrell to complain about his casting which she called a “heartless move”.
