Some more details about the story for the upcoming “Bad Boys for Life” have emerged with the long-awaited sequel to the two Michael Bay action films finally heading into production ahead of an early 2020 release.
Adil Arbi and Bilall Fallah helm this third entry which sees the return or Will Smith’s Mike Lowery and Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett along with Joe Pantoliano as the always angry Captain Howard.
Production Weekly reports that the new film will see the Miami police department assembling an elite team called AMMO that has been tasked with taking down drug cartel leader Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) – a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. Armas’ equally ruthless mother has tasked him with killing Mike Lowery, though the reason for doing so isn’t clear as yet.
At the same time, the AMMO team is lead by a tough and funny criminal psychologist named Rite (Paola Nunez) who also happens to be Mike’s ex-girlfriend, the one who got away. Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton also star in the film as other members of the AMMO team.
Joe Carnahan, Peter Craig and Chris Bremmer penned the script for the film which opens January 17th 2020.
