More details are coming forward about last night’s news that both Jonah Hill and Jeffrey Wright are in talks to join Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” feature at Warner Bros. Pictures.
We know that Wright is playing Commissioner Gordon and Hill is playing a villain and while Hill has been rumored to be up for The Penguin in the past, last night’s reports suggested he may in fact be playing The Riddler who will serve as one of multiple villains within the feature.
In a follow-up, Variety reporter Justin Kroll tweeted that the offer for Hill to join film has been on the table for a month and Hill’s salary is proving a sticking point as the actor initially wanted as much as $10 million to star in the film – making his paycheck more than twice that of Robert Pattinson who will play Batman/Bruce Wayne.
It’s also suggested which character Hill would play is a bargaining point, leading to the confusion over which role he’ll take. In addition, Kroll says that prior to Jeffrey Wright’s hire it was actor Mahershala Ali who was up for the Commissioner Gordon role until the Marvel Studios’ “Blade” offer came around.
“The Batman” is expected to shoot throughout the first half of next year ahead of a Summer 2021 release.
