Following a great reception to the first trailer for the “Pokemon” live-action movie “Detective Pikachu,” it comes as little surprise that there’s already very early talk of where to go next with the franchise should this first film be a hit.
We Got This Covered reports that Legendary Pictures is in the early stages of developing a film based on “Pokemon Red and Blue,” the original 1996 Gameboy games that brought Pokemon the franchise to life.
The games followed a young Pokemon trainer out to become a Pokemon Master and “catch ’em all” around the Kanto region. The site also claims the project will be set in the “Detective Pikachu” universe, but will only have minor connections to that film’s plot and could be used as a springboard for a larger Pokemon cinematic universe.
“Detective Pikachu” is slated to open in cinemas on May 10th.
