Rising scribe Mike Van Waes has been hired to pen the script for a live-action remake of Disney Animation’s 2002 film “Lilo and Stitch”.
The Hawaii-centric story told of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a blue dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers, themes of family bonds figure into the proceedings.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who worked on the upcoming live-action remake of “Aladdin,” are producing the ‘Lilo’ film which will blend live-action and CG. It’s not clear as yet if this will go theatrical or directly to Disney’s streaming service which launches in 2019.
