“Get Out” scene stealer Lakeith Stanfield has joined the cast of Fede Alvarez’s “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” at Sony Pictures.
The sequel/relaunch of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” franchise sees Claire Foy on board as hacker Lisbeth Salander, Sverrir Gudnason as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Sylvia Hoeks as Salander’s fraternal twin sister Camilla.
Stanfield will play a NSA security expert who is tracking Salander and believes she has stolen sensitive government information. His other credits including “Dope,” “Selma,” “Death Note” and played Snoop Dogg in “Straight Outta Compton”.
Filming begins in Europe later in January ahead of an October 2018 release. Amy Pascal, Elizabeth Cantillon and Scott Rudin are producing.
