“Joker” Director Teases Start Of Production

“The Hangover” director Todd Phillips has shared a black and white photo of himself on Instagram which boasts the caption ‘here we go’. That line, which Heath Ledger memorably uttered as The Joker in “The Dark Knight,” has been seen as an indication that filming on the Phillips-directed “Joker” original film is about to get underway.

Previously it had been reported filming on the Joaquin Phoenix-led feature would begin on the tenth of September, with Phillips having been heavily in pre-production for the past few months. Phoenix himself has been spotted walking around New York City recently having lost quite a bit of weight and growing out his hair for the role.

With the exception of some headlines about Alec Baldwin’s scheduling conflict exit from the project, the $55 million dark crime drama has otherwise had a pretty smooth ride into production. Warners themselves have dubbed the project a “gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale”.

“Joker” is currently slated to hit cinemas on October 4th 2019.

Here we go.
