Jennifer Connelly has joined the cast of James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s ambitious adaptation of the manga title “Alita: Battle Angel” at 20th Century Fox.
Set in the 26th century, Alita tells of a female cyborg (Rosa Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.
Currently in production in Texas, Connelly will play one of the villains and joins a cast that includes Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali and Ed Skrein.
A long time passion project of Cameron’s, he handed over the directing reins to Rodriguez but remains actively involved as producer alongside his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Jon Landau.
