Filmmaker James Wan’s new horror feature, his tenth directorial effort, has scored the title of “Malignant” from New Line Cinema and has begun filming.
Wan, who has posted a photo of the clapper for the first scene in the movie to be shot, co-wrote the script with his fiance Ingrid Bisu. The film stars the likes of Annabelle Wallis, Jake Abel, George Young, Maddie Hasson, Michole Briana White and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Plot details are under wraps, one possibility though is it’s an adaptation of Wan’s own 2011 graphic novel “Malignant Man” about a man who discovers a cancerous tumor he has is actually a parasite that gifts him with supernatural abilities. At the same time, he must deal with an evil secret society hidden underneath the skin of mankind.
Wan is expected to film and complete this before moving on to the “Aquaman” sequel.
