Along with strong reviews, the film adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic novel “IT” has now smashed records with the R-rated feature pulling in a record-shattering $13.5 million in Thursday night previews.
That’s the biggest preview number ever for an R-rated title, beating even “Deadpool” ($12.7M), along with a horror film and a September release. “IT” remains projected to open to $65-70 million for the weekend.
The weekend’s other new nationwide release is the Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy “Home Again” which will debut in the $10 million range over the three-day weekend.
