Guadagnino In Talks To Helm Lord Of The Flies

“Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspiria” director Luca Guadagnino is in talks to direct a new adaptation of William Golding’s novel “Lord of the Flies” for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The original book centers on a group of young, male boarding school students that end up stranded on an island and devolve into pre-pubescent savages over the course of the story.

“Tomb Raider” and “Captain Marvel” scribes Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet are set to write the new take, the trio replacing Scott McGehee and David Siegel who were previously set to write and direct.

When Warners acquired the property, there was talk of a gender-swapped angle with schoolgirls instead of school boys. That idea has been scrapped.

Guadagnino is presently working on the TV series “We Are Who We Are” for HBO.
