Production is officially underway on the sequel to 2014’s “Godzilla” reboot and the third film in the Warners/Legendary ‘MonsterVerse’ following the first and this year’s “Kong: Skull Island”.
Michael Dougherty (“Trick R Treat”) is helming the movie which seems to have ditched the “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters” moniker. However, Warner Bros. Pictures has now revealed a full cast list and a new official synopsis which teases the monsters we’ll see.
The cast consists of: Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi. As for the plot:
“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
That definitely continues on from the end credits of ‘Skull Island’ which teased monsters having appeared on Earth before. The new “Godzilla” opens on March 22nd 2019.
