First Trailer: “You Were Never Really Here”

The first trailer has arrived for Lynne Ramsay’s “You Were Never Really Here,” her upcoming child kidnap thriller which screened at Cannes in May and scored both a best actor and best screenplay award.

Based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, Joaquin Phoenix plays an ex-soldier and ex-FBI agent tasked with rescuing Nina, the teenaged daughter of a politician being kept in a New York brothel.

The project, who boasts a score by Radiohead‘s Jonny Greenwood, is skipping the Fall film festival circuit and will hit cinemas worldwide this November. The trailer is made for the French market which is why it uses the film’s local title “A Beautiful Day”.
