Universal’s “The Fate of the Furious” isn’t just tearing through the box-office, it’s burning up the piracy networks as well.
“Fate of the Furious,” which bowed April 14th in the United States, was illegally shared 2.1 million times worldwide in the following seven days says piracy-analytics firm Tecxipio. The copies were illegally camcorded in cinemas and apparently originating from India.
Though easily the most-pirated film for that week, it was far behind the previous series entry “Furious 7” which was pirated by 4.74 million users over a comparable seven-day span.
Big-budget Hollywood fare, especially movies and TV shows that skew toward male audiences, remain very popular amongst illegal downloaders.
