Along with the new trailer this morning, Marvel Studios also released a new poster for “Avengers: Endgame” with a dozen names at the top – and one notable absentee.
Danai Gurira, who plays Dora Milaje general Okoye, wasn’t included in the ‘above the line’ credits running along the top of the poster. In the hours since Marvel has released an updated version of the poster that includes her name which you can see below.
Above the line credits are often negotiated in contracts and can go well beyond a simple photoshop fix making the speed of this alteration impressive. Gurira’s name is included in the credits at the base of the film, but as she was the only key figure in the artwork who is not accredited in the list at the top – the ‘what the’ reaction was understandable.
The character has not appeared in any footage from the film released thus far so the extent of her role is unclear. Interestingly Gurira is featured and credited above the line on the poster for “Avengers: Infinity War” but actors Pom Klementieff, Benedict Wong, Bradley Cooper and Karen Gillan’s names are not – even though they appear in that film’s art.
