“Deadpool” and “Game of Thrones” actor Ed Skrein is in final negotiations to join the “Maleficent” sequel at Disney Pictures.
Skrein plays a villain role, but specifics are under wraps. It is not clear where this film will pick up following the first film which was a revisionist take on “Sleeping Beauty”.
Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are returning to star in the film with “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” helmer Joachim Ronning to direct from a script by Jez Butterworth and Linda Woolverton.
Joe Roth is producing. The first film raked in $758.5 million worldwide and filming on the sequel begins shortly.
