In unexpectedly great news, HBO has announced that they’re going ahead with a third season of their detective anthology series “True Detective,” and have brought in a steady hand to help creator and writer Nic Pizzolatto.
That hand? David Milch, the creator of the network’s iconic western series “Deadwood” according to EW. So far, Pizzolatto has reportedly penned at least the first two episodes of the new season.
Milch isn’t expected to serve as showrunner, and nothing is greenlit at this point, but the report certainly indicates work is being done. The first season of the series was a critical darling and cultural phenomenon, while the second became a punching bag. A third will be approached with caution by all.
