Actress Sigourney Weaver suggested it the other week and now director James Cameron has confirmed that the main cast of the “Avatar” sequels have wrapped filming at least the second and third if not more of the proposed four further films in the sci-fi franchise.
The cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet, and speaking with JoBlo this week the filmmaker said:
“Today we’re capturing some stunt scenes, but our principle cast are all wrapped – Sam, Zoe, Sigourney, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet – they’re done now but they gave us incredible performances, and I can’t tell you how proud I am of the work they did on these films.”
Filming officially started on the sequels just over a year ago. In April, the director described the sequels as more of a generational family saga and fans should expect a little more drama in the fantasy films.
“Avatar 2” is targeting a December 18th 2020 release with the third coming December 17th 2021.
