Bruce Willis will star as Mike Tyson’s boxing trainer Cus D’Amato in the indie drama “Cornerman”.
“Homeland” actor Rupert Friend makes his directing debut on the film set in the Catskills region of New York during the early 1980s. Constantine ‘Cus’ D’Amato (Willis) is a reluctantly retired boxing coach who had trained some of the greatest heavyweight world champions.
Now he runs a small gym where he and his trainers coach young contenders. Pushed to find a real competitor, he soon discovers a then 13-year-old Mike Tyson who has incredible raw talent but is often getting in trouble with his fists.
Producers will begin a worldwide search for the actor who will portray Tyson. Friend also wrote the script and will produce with Aimee Mullins, Marc Butan and Ara Keshishian. Shooting begins this Fall.
