The BBC has released a trailer for their upcoming period-accurate three-part event series adaptation of H.G. Wells’ alien invasion tale “The War of the Worlds”.
Set in Edwardian England, specifically in the county of Surrey, the story follows people caught up in the panic after a meteor bearing aliens intent on wiping out humanity lands in the placid British countryside.
Rafe Spall (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“Poldark”), Rupert Graves (“Sherlock”) and Robert Carlyle (“Stargate Universe”) co-star while Craig Viveiros directs. The series will be broadcast on BBC One this Fall.
The project isn’t to be confused with a rival eight-episode adaptation by Urban Myth Films with that one set in contemporary Europe and starring Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern.
