Anthony Mackie is taking over the lead role of Takeshi Kovacs in Netflix’s “Altered Carbon” which has just been renewed for a second season.
Based on the novels by Richard K. Morgan, the story is set almost four centuries in the future where the human mind has been digitized and a person can transfer their consciousness from one body (called ‘sleeves’) to the next.
The first season began with the character played by Byron Mann who saw his mind transferred to a new sleeve. “Suicide Squad” actor Joel Kinnaman then took on the role for much of the first season, while Will Yun Lee played the role in flashbacks.
Laeta Kalogridis will return as showrunner and executive producer, with Alison Schapker joining the series as co-showrunner and executive producer. David Ellison, James Middleton, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will executive produce.
