MGM has hired Amy Jump to pen the script for a sequel to last year’s “Tomb Raider” film reboot, a follow up which is expected to see Alicia Vikander returning as Lara Croft.
Jump is best known for her collaborations with her director and partner Ben Wheatley, the pair having penned “Kill List,” “Free Fire,” “High Rise,” “A Field In England” together. She was also a producer on “The Duke of Burgundy”.
Sources tell Deadline that Vikander liked what she saw in Jump’s scripting. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons penned the first installment which Warner Bros. Pictures released to a worldwide gross of $274 million.
No word if Roar Uthaug will return as director, but production company GK Films is returning.
