Former “Sense8” and “The Maze Runner” actor Aml Ameen has been set to play Remy, the lead character, in the direct-to streaming film sequel to Spike Lee’s 2006 heist thriller “Inside Man”.
In the new film, the U.S. Federal Reserve is robbed by a highly organized and cleverly orchestrated team of crooks. With dozens of tourists held hostage during a ten-hour siege, an NYPD hostage negotiator (Ameen) and a federal agent join forces to rescue the hostages and foil the heist.
Universal 1440 Entertainment is producing the film which MJ Bassett (“Power,” “Iron Fist”) directs from a script by Brian Brightly. Ogden Gavanski is producing the film which will be released on Netflix as a licensed title and also will be available on other digital platforms.
The first film starred Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster and scored not just strong reviews but also remains Lee’s highest-grossing movie.
