Though it has been on the receiving end of a critical slamming, Netflix’s big budget original film “Bright” has been a success for the company in terms of viewership according to Nielsen Media statistics.
The company reports that an average 11 million U.S. Netflix viewers watched the $90 million David Ayer fantasy-drama over its first three days on the streaming service, a Friday-Sunday period that included a busy Christmas Eve.
Skewing younger and male with 7 million being adults 18-49 and 56% being male, the 11 million total falls shot of the record of the 15.8 million viewers who tuned in for the second season of “Stranger Things” over its first three days of release in October.
However it was far more watched than the premiere of the second season of “The Crown” which scored under 3 million views in its opening three days. Figures are likely underestimates though as Nielsen currently only measures Netflix usage over traditional TVs – desktop and mobile viewing isn’t included.
