After becoming stuck in development hell, the post-apocalyptic Zorro project “Zorro Reborn” has been resurrected.
Lantica Media and Sobini Films are teaming for the feature and are aiming to begin shooting it in March at the Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios.
The story is described as a post-apocalyptic take on the myth of Zorro and follows a masked and caped stranger taking on tyrants.
This however shifts him out of the Spanish colonial era of California in which he was set and into a “Mad Max”-esque apocalyptic wasteland.
The character will also be fuelled more by vengeance than justice. Mark Amin (“Good Kill,” “Frida”) will produce and a search is now underway for a director.
The project was previously setup at 20th Century Fox with various filmmakers and actors attached at different points including Bryan Singer and Gael Garcia Bernal.
