Zemeckis, Paramount Team On “Fermata” Series

Oscar winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (“Forrest Gump,” “Back to the Future”) and Paramount Television have signed a two-year first-look deal for the former’s Compari Entertainment production company to develop TV projects for the latter.

First on the list will be a comedic drama series based on Nicholson Baker’s bestselling novel “The Fermata”. The story follows a 35-year-old male office temp who is writing his autobiography.

Said temp has the ability to freeze time, but has a very moral code so doesn’t use it for evil or for material gain. Instead he uses it for his own pleasure, mostly undressing and placing women in amusing if objectifying positions.

David Hollander is adapting the script, while Jack Rapke will also produce.
