Youtube Launches Ad Supported Films

YouTube Premium has started to incorporate free, ad-supported films onto its service reports AdAge.

A pilot program features about 100 films ranging from “The Terminator” and “Rocky” to “Legally Blonde” and “Agent Cody Banks” and viewers interested in checking out these two films on YouTube will have the option of watching them for free, as long as they are OK with commercial interruptions.

No details are available about how the revenue is shared between YouTube and the studio partners, but it’s reported that the streaming service is hoping the new initiative takes off, opening the site to different types of advertising.

This follows on from the service recently launching the ten-episode sci-fi series “Origin” a few weeks ago.
