DC Universe has announced that the long-awaited, highly-anticipated third season of “Young Justice,” now subtitled ‘Outsiders,’ will premiere on the streaming app on January 4th 2019.
The date was announced in a teaser which suggests Apokolips and Darkseid will come into play in the new season which arrives nearly six years after the second season finale aired in March 2013.
The series follows the lives of teenage superheroes and sidekicks like Oracle, Aqualad, Kid Flash and Blue Beetle who are members of a covert operation group referred to simply as “The Team”, that acts as a young counterpart to the famous adult team – the Justice League.
The new season will also feature the superhero team Outsiders consisting of Nightwing, Superboy, Tigress, Forager, Halo and Geo-Force. Supporting characters include Lex Luthor, Black Canary and Cat Grant.
In addition, the DC Universe’s live-action “Swamp Thing” series has officially begun production. Actress Crystal Reed has posted a behind-the-scenes photo featuring director Len Wiseman who is set to helm the show’s pilot episode.
James Wan will produce the series which will air around mid-2019. Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman will pen and act as showrunners.
The series will stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Will Patton as Avery Sutherland Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Jennifer Beals as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable and Kevin Durand as Jason Woodtrue/Floronic Man.
