With Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse” moving its action into the 1980s, one of the big draws will be getting to see younger versions of some other pre-established characters from the old trilogy.
Today, Latino Review has word on the front runners for three key roles. These actors are said to be actually testing, as opposed to the names mentioned this past Fall who were just rumored.
First up, they say Taron Egerton (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”), Jamie Blackley (“If I Stay”), and Tye Sheridan (“Mud”) are in the mix to play young Cyclops. They add Alexandra Shipp (“Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B”) and Zendaya Coleman are being considered for a young Storm, and Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) and Saoirse Ronan (“Atonement”) are up for a young Jean Grey.
Jeff Sneider from The Wrap weighed in on the report shortly after, saying Sheridan is the frontrunner to play Cyclops. He also said that Chloe Moretz, who was rumored for the Jean Gray role the other month, passed on the project.
The core “X-Men: First Class” team including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, etc. are all due back for the film which will shoot this year for a Summer 2016 release.
