Yondu’s “Guardians” Sequel Status Explained

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel is well into post-production ahead of its early summer opening next year and today actor Sean Gunn, brother of the film’s director James Gunn, has cleared up some confusion over a key character.

Michael Rooker’s blue-skinned Yondu is back in the new film and it seems his fellow Ravagers aren’t happy with the fact the character hasn’t ‘gone hard’ after Peter Quill despite him double-crossing them. As a result they are now questioning his ability to command. Gunn, who plays Yondu’s second-in-command Kraglin, tells ComicBook.com:

“There’s a little rumbling amongst the Ravagers, like, ‘Where does Yondu’s allegiance lay here? Is he going soft on Quill? So, the Ravagers have to make a decision of what they’re gonna do about Yondu and I think Kraglin is a key part of that.”

Yondu is set to officially become a member of the ‘Guardians’ in the new film which suggests he’s leaving the pirate-like Ravagers to join the crew of the Milano. It would also match reports that Chris Sullivan’s character Taserface will lead a mutinous band of Ravagers in the movie.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” opens May 5th next year.
