Last year came word that a film adaptation of Square Enix and United Front Games’ 2012 Hong Kong-set video game title “Sleeping Dogs” was in development.
Now, it finally sounds like things are slowly moving forward with Chinese actor and martial artist Donnie Yen taking to Instagram this weekend to share the news that the film is officially “in motion” and wanted to assure fans they’ve taken the time to get it right rather than rush it out.
Yen will take on the lead role of Wei Shen, an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer who infiltrates and attempts to take down a criminal organization from the inside. Original Films (“Fast and Furious”) will produce.
Square Enix’s 2013 game title “Tomb Raider” has already been adapted into a film which will open next month.
