Xavier Samuel (“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” “Anonymous”) is headed back into the ocean as he joins the $11.3 million-budget surfing drama “Drift” for TF1 International says Variety.
Set in Western Australia in the early seventies, “Drift” centers on two brothers who open a surf-wear store and eventually build an empire – the film using their tale to explore the commercialization of surfing. Sam Worthington (“Avatar”) and Myles Pollard (“Wolverine”) also star.
Morgan O’Neill helms from a script by Ben Nott. Shooting kicks off August 1st in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
Samuel previously starred in the surfing-laced Aussie coming-of-age drama “Newcastle” and next appears in Roland Emmerich’s Shakespeare conspiracy thriller “Anonymous” and the 3D ‘sharks in a flooded supermarket’ action flick “Bait”.
